Thanks for quite a good and useful ideas.
Here's my Q though:
What could go wrong with 2 combined things instead of stretching the optic bundle (and even providing a slack):
`1. a tube, to direct de light from the flash to
2. a 45 degree positioned mirror right above the ring?

Thanks for the tutorial, and great photos! I'm interested in trying pictures of water drops, so hopefully I can figure out a way to do this with my superzoom (Lumix DMC-FZ18) If I can't, well, another reason to buy an SLR.

$125-Million Pledged to Harvard Engineering Program

Hansjörg Wyss, a Swiss-born engineer and businessman has pledged $125-million to Harvard University to expand the university’s Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering.

The money will endow seven professorships at the institution and support its operations.

Researchers at the institute will include biologists, chemists, engineers, mathematicians, physicians, and scientists from other disciplines. All will work collaboratively to attempt to uncover the engineering principles that govern life forms and use that knowledge to develop technologies they hope will be able to solve looming health-care and environmental issues.

Hi Mike,

I just bought a DSLR camera (Sony A100). Originally, it was because of the birth of my son but once I started to notice the features and just how much better my pictures look I decided to start taking pictures as a hobby. I haven't taken any classes what so ever, but I found your web site to be very useful with your examples of macro photo's. I really don't know how renowned you are, but to me, your sets up's were pure genius. Thanks for the tips, I can't wait to try them.

I am also looking for replacement Fujitsu T4010 cpu fan. The current one started to make strange and loud noise when operating. Took it out and added some lubrication. Stupid thing do to. Don't do it. Apparently it shorted something on the fan PCB although I tried to avoid it running to pcb but..

Talking about overal quality of Fujitsu I think it has served me pretty well. Current fan problem is the first and only major hardware problem I have had so far. I have to agree about the thermal design. This is not so well engineerd. Fan control actually sucks. It starts the fan for few seconds, then stops, starts again after few seconds, etc. I use Notebook Hardware Control to make the fan behaviour somewhat better.

New FS lifebooks (tablets specially) seem to have lost many good things that have been implemented in previous models. Maybe I'll start to look at IBM ( Lenovo ) for my next one.
